Initiation into the boy's club

Yes.  I have been iniated into the mom of boy's club.

 

My life is a little on the wild side now.

 

 

The girls didn't do these kind of things.  They were so calm.  I was so much younger. ;)
The other day, Landon went to the dirtbike race and came home with a little surprise for me.  He had it behind his back.  He was grinning so big, "close your eyes mommy!"  "I have a surprise for you."  I closed my eyes and all of a sudden something was flung into my face.  A Snake!  A pretend one of course, but a snake!  I screamed.  He laughed.  Seth told me when he got the snake, Landon said, in a very high pitched, squeaky voice, "Mommy is going to say, Landon put that away.  Landon put that away!"  He knew that snakes and mommys don't go together.

Ballroom dance, that is.

 

His dad gave him dance lessons as a graduation gift.

 

And he learned how to ballroom dance.  I think it is very hot!  He's quite humble about it.  Trys to pretend he has forgotten the moves.  But he hasn't. :)

 

 

 

 

Birth Order

Birth order is important and I think we got it right in this house!

Heavenly Father knew what he was doing when he sent these two girls to me first.  They are such a big help to me.  They take such good care of these boys.  They adore them.

 

And on a side note, if I had given birth to these two boys first, I may not have had these sweet girls.  Just sayin'!

So Landon practiced and practiced on his new, no pedal bike he got for Christmas.

Remember it was to teach him good balance.  Well, Lo and Behold, at the end of January Landon was riding his bike without any training wheels.  Seth taught him in one afternoon.

Alabama Snow

Back in January, the 17th to be exact, it started  snowing!  The children knew there was a chance and they were so excited!  They just knew that they would be getting out of school early that day.  Well, it started snowing around 1:30.  I never got a call from the schools saying that it was dismissing early.  I was just going to pick them up at regular time.  I thought about going and getting them early but Sawyer was still taking a nap.  Thank goodness Aunt Melanie was still living with us.  She saved the day!  She told me that Jeremy had said as soon as she saw one flake she better come get him from school.  You see, they have lived in Mobile their whole life, so us southerners in Birmingham have seen more snow than they have.  So she went to get the girls early also.

They were so excited!  It was that yucky, slushy, wet kind of snow that had no chance of sticking to the ground.  They did not care.  They were freezing and wet and miserable but continued to stay outside.  They came in once to get something and their faces were so red.  I said, "girls, don't you want to come in now?"  Jeanna said, "No, this is my first time seeing snow and I'm staying out until I can't feel anything!"  And I think that is exactly what they did.

Landon came running up to me and said, "look at my ear, mommy!"  "Where did my ear go?"

"Here it is!"  While we are talking about his ears, let me tell you something funny Landon does.  Sometimes when I'm telling Landon something, he will say, as he cups his ears, "I didn't hear you mommy, say it again."

"GRRRRRRRRR!"  This was a souvenier brought out of the woods while on a walk with daddy.

I said, "pose me for me, Landon!"  He said, "okay mommy."  He grabbed the post and gave me this serious model pose.

He loves getting dirty! He must have about three pair of rain boots and they are all very worn. 

And on a rainy day, if Landon goes missing, just look out front.

Guarantee you will find him in his favorite mud puddle.
