Napping on a stump

Seth took these pictures months ago with his phone.  Seth spent so many hours cleaning up from the logging we had done on our property.  Landon spent just as many hours working right beside his dad.  Landon would always take his pretend chain saw with him and help his dad cut up logs.  These are so priceless.  I'm so glad Seth took the time to stop and snap a picture.  It's not very often we see this little guy so worn out.

Building

We have had some really good family home evenings lately.  This family home evening was about building and strengthening your testimony.  We talked about how a testimony can consist of many different things like tithing, prayer, reading your scriptures, and others.
The activity at the end of the night was building a pyramid!
They loved making a pyramid.  Well, at least the children did, not sure how the men at the bottom felt!

Sawyer {11 months}

Here he is at 11 months old!
Sawyer taking some of his first steps with Uncle Bubba.
Sawyer loves grabbing anything that will move and walking with it across the floor.

He loves climbing onto things.

No more baby food for this big guy!  He loves spaghetti!
He loves climbing into this basket.  It's just the right fit for him.

War Eagle/Roll Tide

In honor of this cute boy in his auburn outfit, let me tell you a story:

Friday was two days away.  And on this particular Friday, you could wear your team colors.  Savannah was so excited that she was going to get to wear this adorable outfit, if I must say so myself, that I made for the girls last year.  You see, it is a three tiered skirt.  Orange and white polka dots (first tier), middle blue fabric, orange and white polka dots (third tier).  So I just assumed that Laurel would wear the same thing.  I lay them out.  Laurel looks at me and says, "Ummm.... I don't want to wear that."  Me: "why not?"  Laurel: " I just don't." (with this very suspicious look on her face)  Me: "What's going on Laurel?  You loved it last year."  Laurel: "Welllllll, you see.  I have been telling all of my friends that I go for Alabama. {me: laughing so hard}  And I will kinda look real silly walking in wearing that Auburn outfit!"
Me:  "Why are you rooting for Alabama?"
Laurel:  "Auburn's just awful!  I'm done with them! I'm going to be for the team that wins!"
Me:  "Well, it is late and we don't own any crimson tide colors in this house.  Remember your dad and I both graduated from Auburn.  So you just need to tell your friends that you were for Auburn when your mommy made you this outfit!"

Laurel walks into class the next day all decked out in orange and blue.  A couple of girls looked at her very shocked.  "Laurel, we thought you were for Alabama?"
Laurel:  "Welllll, you see.  I didn't tell you that I use to be for Auburn and my mommy made me wear this outfit because she made it!"

I really do love football season!  We are not fanatical about the sport like most southerners.  But I love to watch a good game.  I just thought this was all too funny.  I remember when I was a child, all the cousins would be together every year for the Auburn/Alabama game.  Us and the Johnson cousins were Alabama fans because our parents were Alabama fans.  Then you had my other cousins pulling for Auburn, because their dad had gone to Auburn.  We would get into crazy arguments during these games.  So funny now to look back on this.

I did tell Laurel that she needs to stick by her team, no matter if it's Alabama or Auburn.  I told her that you can't just be for a team when they are winning.  You have to be a true fan through the bad times also.

Fruit and Insects

One of Landon's most favorite things to do is open the fridge, grab an apple or a peach, and head for the front porch.
His absolute favorite fruit are peaches.  I can't believe the boy didn't turn into a peach this summer.  He would eat sometimes three big peaches a day.  He would grab one for me also and say, "eat a peach with me on the poch, mommy!"
So we rocked and ate our peach.  As we were walking through the front yard, I caught glimpse of these hard working insects.  I mean, check out that zipper in the spider web.  I despise spiders but I love looking at a great web.  Amazing!
I love our encore azaleas.

My boys.

I

heart their personalities!

On the move

At the end of August, Sawyer started taking a few steps.  He is our earliest walker.

And there is no stopping him now.  He broke two of my casserole dishes before I was smart enough to switch the cabinet to plastic!  He is so fast.

He is into everything.
I have lots of help.  Landon said, "look mommy!  I pick up sawya just like Nana and Wawal!"

One day, after school, I looked out on the deck and the girls had set up this blanket with lots of toys.  They said they were playing daycare.  Nothing like some live babies to fill your daycare.

Labor

I'm a little behind on updating the blog.  I couldn't help but include these pictures.
They make me giggle.
They were taken on Labor Day.
Do you know the definition of Labor Day?  Well, I looked it up.  The 1st Monday in September, observed as a holiday in honor of working people.
Hee. Hee.
I promise girls. We will go on vacation next Labor Day.  I grew up thinking this holiday meant that we take time off to work around the house.  Looks like your dad grew up the same way.  We are going to correct this!

Rain Puddle

One rainy day.
One rain puddle.
One happy boy.  Who insisted on wearing a coat in 80 degree weather.
Who stomped in this puddle.
For a very long time.
Until his mommy made him come inside to get a bath.  As this happy boy walked through the garage he noticed something.  "Look mommy! My footpint!"
Later that day, this happy boy got away from his mommy and went back for round two.

Jeana's 9th Birthday

We got to join in on the fun of celebrating Jeana's 9th birthday.  Her and Laurel are just weeks apart in age.

Homemade gifts from Laurel and Savannah.
I love, love, love this picture!  This sums up these three girl's personalities.  They just love life and are all about having fun.
We love having Jeana in our home.  She is so funny.  I love that her, Laurel and Savannah are getting to grow up together.

Wow, did you count how many times I used the word LOVE!?

Riding with my buddy

These two are becoming fast buddies.

Jumping with Landon

Now this was a fun time!

*pictures taken by my cousin, Melanie.  We had just been talking about how we were rarely in any pictures because we are always the one behind the camera.  She took these pictures while I was out playing with Landon.

Green Grass

Sawyer loves being outside.
He's not quite sure...
what this prickly stuff is.

I love watching this sweet boy discover things for the first time.
