Landon has brought so much energy to our family. He is wide open all day long. I have never experienced anything like him. Don't get me wrong. It is a good energy. It is just a very exhausting energy. I had two quiet girls who would sit beside me and play with their baby dolls. I was able to fold clothes and keep a clean house. They both took about a three hour nap everyday. They did this until they were four. Things are a lot trickier now. Having a boy has opened my eyes to a completely different world.
He does not want to stop long enough to take a nap.
Getting him to take a nap is like a really, bad nightmare for me.
If he is strapped in his carseat, he will go to sleep.
So I became one of those mothers who would get in carpool a hour before school got out. Both boys would stay asleep. I liked sitting there reading a book, or cutting coupons, or cleaning the diaper bag out, or watching Laurel and Savannah play on the play ground.
But there was always a pile of laundry waiting at home or a dirty bathroom.
One day this past week, Landon started getting fussy around 1:00. I had about seven loads of laundry piled up! Seriously, how does this happen!? I knew if I could get Landon to stay still long enough he would go to sleep.
I said, "come on Landon, let's go get Laurel and Savannah." He asked for a "sucka!" I gave him one. I buckled him in his carseat. I said, "I will be right back." The van was in the garage. The weather was perfect. Not too hot, not too cold. I left the door open from the garage to the house. {I guess I just wrote all of that to make myself feel better. It kind of sounds cruel that I just left my 2 year old in the car.} I came back in and started folding clothes. A few minutes later, I went to check on Landon. He was sound asleep!
I spent the next 1 1/2 hours folding clothes. Sawyer slept the whole time also.
Over a hour later, I put Sawyer in the car. Landon woke up and said, "go get Laurel and Savannah, mommy?" I said, "yep, mommy's ready to go." He said, "where my sucka?" As he pulled it off his jeans, he said, "here it is mommy, here it is!" He stuck it in his mouth and went about enjoying the "sucka," never knowing he had just slept the past hour and that he now had clean clothes in his drawers.
You've eaten cat food before, right!?
Like I said.
A whole new world!
